The government has relaxed regulations about what is allowed under the "permitted development rules" so that, for a three year period, single storey extensions up to a specific length would be permitted without planning permission. Under these changes the house owner will still have to go through a "prior notification" process with the planning authority, who will continue to consult neighbouring property owners. Building regulations processes would be unchanged.
However, we have been told by the Parish Council that Suffolk Coastal have confirmed that, because a condition was imposed in the original outline planning permission for the houses in Martlesham Heath which removed permitted development rights for extensions, there would be no relaxation of the procedure and that the existing normal planning processes will remain in force unchanged for houses in Martlesham Heath.
This means that all works, including extensions of any size, porches, conservatories etc, require planning permission from Suffolk Coastal District Council ; contact details are here (scroll down to the Southern Area section).

This is part of the covenant which applies to all houses on Martlesham Heath and is unrelated to MHHL.

If you have concerns about people not observing other aspects of the covenants (eg storage of caravans) these should also be reported to Grainger Ltd as above. They have told us they intend to continue to enforce these covenants.
